**Department Chairperson: Renald Simmons**

**Renald Simmons is the Department Chairperson of the Mathematics Department. He began working with VU in August of 1983. Ren obtained his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Mathematics/Education in 1979 from Michigan State University. His Master’s degree is in Applied Mathematics in 1983 also from Michigan State University. Ren teaches Applied Algebra and Trigonometry, College Algebra, and Calculus and Differential Equations. He advises students in majors of Mathematics and General Studies.**

**Chad Beaman joined VU in 2006. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Indiana State University. His Master’s is in Mathematics, which he earned from Texas A&M. Here at VU, he teaches Calculus, Statistics, Algebra, and Technical Mathematics. He also teaches courses for the 3 ^{rd} and 4^{th} year Math major students. His advisees include students in Mathematics and Engineering majors.**

**Stacey Bowling began working at VU in the Fall of 2013. He earned his Bachelor of Mathematics and his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering both from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in May of 1989. He then went on to complete a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in May of 1991. His MBA from Indiana University was completed in December 2003. Stacey also has a Master in Global Supply Chain Management degree from Indiana University, which he completed in August of 2003. His Master of Arts in Mathematics is from Arizona State University, which was completed in May 2008. Dr. Bowling completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics Education in May 2014 from Arizona State University. At VU, he teaches courses in Mathematics and Education: MATH 112, 212, 301, 312; EDUC 363, 421, 422, 423 which comprise of Math for Elementary Teachers I and II, Teaching Secondary Math I and II, Teaching Elementary Math, Intro. to Abstract Math, Probability and Statistics, and Topics in Math Education. Between teaching duties, he advises Mathematics Education (those students working towards B.S., B.A., A.S., and A.A. degrees) and Elementary Education/ Special Education majors (those working towards B.S., and A.S.).**

**Stephen Brothers began teaching in the Mathematics Department at VU in 2014. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He went on to complete his Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from Indiana University, where he also completed a Mathematics Certification. Stephen teaches courses in Calculus, College Algebra, and Applied Mathematics here at VU.**

**Jane Carie began working with VU in Fall 1980 part-time while teaching full-time at a local Middle/High School, Rivet. Jane is a Vincennes University Alumni. Here she received her Associate’s in 1966. Her Bachelor’s is from Indiana University. Later, she attended Indiana State University to complete her Master of Science degree. At VU, she teaches MATH 022, courses that are the Co-requisites for College Algebra. Jane advises students in majors of different fields of interest.**

**Mark Catt joined VU in 2014. Mark earned his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Eastern Illinois University in 1978. He then went on to complete a Master of Arts in Math Education in 1985 and became certified in Education Administration in 1990 both also at Eastern Illinois University. The courses he teaches here at VU are Applied Mathematics and College Algebra.**

**Dave Cullen started working with VU in August of 2011. His Bachelor’s in Mathematics: Secondary Education is from Oakland City University. Currently, Dave teaches VU students in College Algebra and Business Mathematics courses. Dave is a member of the Updike Hall Book Club.**

**Anthony Cummins was welcomed to VU in the Fall of 2011. He is also an Alumnus of Vincennes University. Here he earned his Bachelor’s degree. Tony teaches Developmental Math Courses and is also a tutor in the Updike Hall Learning Lab, Room 132, for Professional Mathematics topics. **

**Michelle Cummins began working with VU in 1993. Michelle is an Alumni of Vincennes University. Her Associate degree from VU is in BPSci with a Chemistry Concentration. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in General Science with an emphasis in both Chemistry and Mathematics. After her Bachelor’s, Michelle completed her Master of Art degree in Mathematics Education from Western Governors University. She has taught all levels of Mathematics offerec here at VU from remedial Math courses to College Algebra and Calculus. Michelle also stays busy by helping advise students in all majors. Since Michelle is the Director of Student Success, she helps students reach their academic goals by guiding many with academic advising, counseling, and finding suitable tutoring resources that are all located on the Vincennes University Campus. **Jared Dixon began working with VU in the Fall of 2014. From that time until the Summer of 2017, he worked for COPE Student Support Services. Jared began teaching for the College of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics in the Fall of 2016. His B.A. is in Mathematics from Indiana University. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University in Psychology. Currently, Jared is completing his M.A.T. in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska. Here at VU some of the courses he teaches are the Co-requisite classes for Business Mathematics and College Algebra courses. **

**Jessica Grumieaux began working with VU in September of 2012. Her Bachelor’s is in Mathematics and Computer Science from Indiana State University. She earned her Master’s from Oakland City University. Here at VU, Jessica teaches courses in Business Mathematics, College Algebra, Applied Mathematics, and Basic Mathematics. Jessica also advises students from many different majors.**

**Mandy Haag began working with VU in the Fall of 2004. Mandy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Indiana. Her Master of Arts degree is in Mathematics Education from Western Governor’s University (WGU). Here at VU, she teaches courses in Business Mathematics and College Algebra. Mandy also advises students interested in the Pre-Professional majors of Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Pre-Veterinary Technology. Outside of teaching and advising at VU, she is the Assistant Varsity Volleyball coach at a local High School, North Knox High School in Bicknell, Indiana.**

**Stephanie Holmes joined VU in 1996. Stephanie is a Vincennes University Alumni. She obtained her Associates degree in Education from Vincennes University. She attended the University of Southern Indiana where she earned her Bachelor’s degree, then went on to the University of Southern Indiana where she received her Master’s degree. Here at VU, Stephanie teaches Business Math, Quantitative Reasoning, and the Co-requisite courses for each of these. She advises students majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Pre-Vet Tech as well.**

**Guillaume Jaubert began working with VU in 2011. He earned his Associate of Science degree in Industrial Maintenance in France in 1995. Guillaume’s Bachelor’s is also from France, which he earned in 1996. In 1997, he received his Master’s in Chemistry/Physics from the University of Provence, France. His equivalent Master degree was completed in 2005 in Teaching Physics and Chemistry. Guillaume teaches courses here at Vincennes University in College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Quantitative Reasoning.**

**Rick Kribs began working with VU in the Fall of 2009. He received his Bachelor’s from the University of Evansville. His Master of Science is from Ball State University. The courses Rick teaches at VU include College Algebra, Quantitative Reasoning, Calculus II, Differential Equations, Applied Calculus, Statistics, Finite Math, Trigonometry, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, and Business Math. Between teaching duties, Rick advises students majoring in Mathematics.**

**Kaylee Ravellette began working with VU in 2012. As a VU alumni, she earned her Associate degree in Architectural Studies/ CAD Technology from Vincennes University. Kaylee’s Bachelor’s is in Mathematics Education, which she also earned from VU. Her Master’s Degree in Mathematics is from Indiana State University. Here at VU, Kaylee teaches courses in Basic Mathematics, as well as the Co-requisite courses for College Algebra, Quantitative Reasoning and Applied Mathematics. **

**Nancy Riggs joined VU in 2008 and works in the Mathematics department. She earned her Bachelor’s in Mathematics at Roosevelt University and her Master of Science in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University. Nancy teaches College Algebra, Survey of Calculus I and II, and Calculus and Analytic Geometry I. Nancy also advises students in Mathematics majors, Pre-Science/Engineering, and General Studies majors.**

**Molly Schwitz joined us at VU in the Fall semester of 2014. She is also an Alumni of Vincennes University. Her Associate of Science degree in Nursing is from VU. Her Bachelor of Science degree is in Mathematics Education from the University of Southern Indiana. She also earned her Master of Science degree from USI in Math Education. Her teaching duties here at VU include many different Mathematics courses such as Trigonometry, College Algebra, Business Math, and Applied Mathematics Co-Requisites, as well as Co-Req. courses for both College Algebra and Business Math. Molly is an advisor for students interested in Nursing and Engineering students, but this might expand to include students of other majors also.**

**Sue Seber started working at Vincennes University in 2005. She has her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Mathematics from EIU. Sue teaches several MATH courses here at VU. You’ll find Sue on the VU campus during the Fall semesters teaching some of these Mathematics courses.**

**Edward Sharkus started working with VU in 2010. Ed is a Vincennes University Alumnus. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Vincennes University. He then went on to earn his Master of Science in Mathematics from Texas A&M. Ed teaches courses here at VU in Algebra, Quantitative Reasoning, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Business Mathematics.**

**Cathy Strange started working with VU in 2014. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from Greenville College, Greenville, Illinois. Her Master of Science in Mathematics Education is from Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana. Her teaching duties include courses in the Math department such as MATH 102 College Algebra, Co-requisite courses for College Algebra, MATH 022, MATH 111 Finite Mathematics, and a Technical Math course: MATT 107 Applied Mathematics.**

**DanaLea Woehl began working with VU in August of 2008. Her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics is from Houghton College. She earned her Master’s in Mathematics at South Dakota State University. At VU, she teaches courses in Mathematics: College Algebra, Quantitative Reasoning, Calculus with Analytic Geometry I, Intermediate Calculus, and Abstract Algebra. DanaLea’s advisees are students in the Engineering Science major, which has various concentrations within it. She is the Vice President of the Faculty Senate until her term ends in April of 2018.**
