Welcome to the Vincennes University Department of Music and Theatre

The Vincennes University Department of Music and Theatre offers many options, whether your interest is in the field of music education, music-fine arts, music theatre, audio recording, acting, technical theatre, or costume construction.

Our music curriculum includes two years of music theory, ear training skills, piano, private lessons in your chosen area, a variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles, and music literature.

Our theatre program includes two years of acting and movement, theatre literature, technical and design courses.

The music and theatre majors at Vincennes University are an elite group. Our students have performed recitals and concerts across the city, state, and nation and the world for more than two centuries. They have entertained U.S. presidents, have been featured on countless radio and television broadcasts, have delighted audiences from Broadway to Southern California, from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland to Nashville, Tennessee, have earned Grammy Awards and have enjoyed successful musical careers in performance and education. Our students have proven time and time again that it is possible, through hard work, to attain their professional dreams.

If your goal is to teach, act, perform, record music, become a theatre technician, create sets, props, and costumes, design, or simply take part in an ensemble or private lesson, the VU Department of Music and Theatre can help prepare you for transfer to a four-year institution and provide you with the skills you need for further development and success.
