(One Year) Certificate of Graduation

The Vincennes University Practical Nursing Program provides a quality education for those that wish to obtain licensure to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).   LPNs work with sick, injured, and disabled clients in a variety of health care settings.  They provide client care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or a physician.  Some of the many duties of an LPN may include:

  • Providing patient assistance with eating, bathing, dressing and personal hygiene
  • Taking and recording vital signs
  • Preparing and giving injections and administering medications
  • Wound dressing

If you are a responsible, compassionate, critical thinker that wants to help make a difference in patient’s lives, this may be the career path for you!

Students that enter the Practical Nursing Program at Vincennes University will receive a quality education via lecture, laboratory experience and clinical settings. Our faculty are experienced nurses that will help provide students with the knowledge base and skills needed to help graduates perform at an essential level of patient care once they have gained licensure as an LPN. The aim of the Program is to enable students to develop knowledge of disease processes and prevention, restorative nursing, and the essential competencies needed to assist individuals in achieving an optimum level of wellness in a variety of settings.  Upon graduation from the Practical Nursing Program students are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).   Job growth is expected to grow 25% between 2012 and 2022 (Bureau of Labor Statistics).
This program begins annually in August.   Admission is highly competitive and compliance with all criteria does not guarantee acceptance to the program.  Applicants with higher grade point averages that have completed math, science, and English courses with a grade of B or better receive preference for admission.  To learn more about admission criteria and the program curriculum click here
