RN to BSN Completion Program for Registered Nurses

Available 100% online.  VU has full time faculty with on campus availability to assist students as needed.  Students work with their professors to select clinical experiences in various settings.  These options provide students with flexible schedules so they can continue their education while employed.
The RN to BSN Completion Program curriculum is guided by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice and the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Competencies. The Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Registered Nurses have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of nursing practice to enhance bedside nursing practice, improve leadership skills, and/or prepare for continuing education at the graduate level.

Registered Nurses who have completed an Associate Degree or diploma from a program that is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN, formerly NLNAC) may apply for admission to the RN to BSN program.

Applicants must possess a Registered Nurse license prior to beginning any clinical nursing courses.  With a limited number of positions available, applicants are encouraged to pay attention to posted application deadlines.  Students enrolled in the RN to BSN Program have the option of taking courses full time or part time, but the Program must be completed within 5 years of the first nursing course.   Program start dates include Fall (August) and Spring (January).

Application Process
Application to the nursing program is a 2-step process.

  1. Applicants must complete a Vincennes University application via the VU Admissions Office. The VU application is available online.  Do NOT submit an application through Distance Education.
  2. Once an applicant is officially admitted to VU, applicants must submit a Health Sciences Program Application to the Nursing Department for evaluation. For Vincennes Campus students, information on how to submit the Health Sciences Application will be sent with the University acceptance letter. Applicants for the Jasper Campus may pick up HS/Nursing applications at the Nursing Office. Applicants are encouraged to keep copies of all documents submitted with the HSHP Program Application.

Important Notes

  • Applicants must submit the standard VU application first, then complete the Health Sciences application.
  • Applications are not kept if the applicant withdraws or declines the admission; therefore, applicants who are reapplying to the RN to BSN Program must submit a new Health Science Application for the desired semester.

Fall 2017 Application Deadlines
Applications for Fall 2017 are now being accepted.  There is no deadline to apply but applicants are encouraged to apply early as there is limited space available.

Spring 2018 Application Deadlines
Applications will be accepted beginning September 15, 2017.  Notifications will be sent to applicants approximately on or before November 15, 2017 regarding admission status.
