#23 Vincennes Lady Trailblazers Get Back to Winning Ways in District P Match-up Against Kaskaskia

Vincennes, IN-The #23 Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers defeated the Blue Angels of Kaskaskia by the score of 113 to 59. 5 Lady Blazers ended the game with double-figure points.

In the first-half the Lady Trailblazers jumped out to 54-32 lead in large part to a 65% shooting percentage, and hitting 3 of 4 from 3. The VU defense also held Kaskaskia in check to, holding the Blue Angels to only 10 made baskets, and a first-half shooting percentage of 26%. The Lady Blazers forced 10 turnovers, 9 of which were recorded as steals, leading to easy fast-break layups. Freshman Janiya Davis led the charge with 18 first-half points. Fellow freshman Sofia Besedina nearly recorded a first-half double-double with 8 points and 7 rebounds.

The second-half saw Vincennes explode to an 89-43 lead after the 3rd quarter and the lead would only get bigger from there. The Blazers shot 70 % from the field after half-time, credited to forcing 18 turnovers and recording 10 steals in the second-half. Freshman Marquitta Easley had 6 of her career-high 12 points in the second-half.

The Lady Trailblazers had 5 players finish the game with double-figures in points. Freshmen Janiya Davis Sofia Besedina, and Marquitta Easley had 24, 18, and 12. Which goes down as a new career high for each of them. Besedina also added a team high 9 rebounds. Sophomores Ladellia Maggett and Mykel Roth rounded out the scorers to reach double-figures with 13 and 20. Roth added 6 rebounds and Maggett lead the Lady Blazers with 6 assists.

The Lady Trailblazers return to the Physical Education Complex after the Thanksgiving Break on Wednesday, November 29th as the take on Lincoln Trail College as part of a men’s and women’s double-header. The #23 Vincennes women’s team will get the action started at 5 p.m. eastern. We look forward to seeing you there.
