At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

Hansen Chooses Lee University

Vincennes, IN- On the same day that fellow high jumper Varvara Klyuchnikova decided to sign her letter of intent, Sophomore Evan Hansen signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Lee University.

“I’m beyond excited to be given the opportunity to continue jumping at Lee. I’m really looking forward to joining the program this fall.” Said Hansen after signing on the dotted line to be a Flame next season.

Hansen is a product of Evansville Memorial High School, and chose Vincennes University as an affordable option to continue his academic and athletic career right out of high school. Hansen is a criminal justice major, and has been an intricate part of the jumps squad success at Vincennes University during his last two seasons. Hansen has cleared a 6'7"’bar in the high jump so far as a Trailblazer, and has been a national qualifier in each indoor and outdoor season he has competed in.

Track & Field Coach Chris Gafner said about Hansen, “Evan always has a very positive attitude. He works hard to improve, he competes hard at meets, and he will do really well at Lee.”
