Hot Nights by Darrington & Tisdale Boost #5 Blazers past Lewis & Clark

Another 30 point night from Chris Darrington and a double-double from freshman Isaiah Tisdale were the big story lines in a 77-68 victory for the Trailblazers tonight at the VU P.E. Complex over Lewis & Clark.

VU struck first on the first possession as freshman Rade Kukobat knocked down a 3-ball to give Vincennes the early lead. However, Lewis and Clark would battle back with a pair of baskets of their own, and would hold a 5-to-3 lead for the first 4 minutes of the game. A pair of free-throws from Isaiah Tisdale, and a Kukobat jumper would allow VU to recapture the lead. The teams would trade baskets for the next handful of minutes before Isaiah Tisdale switch into beast mode. Tisdale would score 14 of his 16 points in the first-half, and would help the Traiblazers on a 15-to-4 run that would give them a 36-23 half-time lead. Tisdale was unstoppable in the first-half, knocking in 14 points, pulling down 6 rebounds, and handing out 3 helpers.

Although Tisdale shined in the first-half, in the 2nd Darrington was in the driver’s seat. Lewis & Clark struck first to start the second half, but sloppy ball handling would allow VU to go on a run, and ultimately open an 18-point lead with 8 minutes to play. Although Lewis & Clark would claw back within 8 with under 2 minutes to play, the Trailblazers proved to be too much for Lewis and Clark. Darrington would score 25 of his game-high 30 points in the second-half, and lead VU to a 77-68 victory. The win over Lewis & Clark moves the Trailblazers to 24-and-1 on the season, and 14-and-1 in District 16 play.

VU’s last victory was highlighted by a 30 point game from Chris Darrington, and he would make it back-to-back games tonight as he poured in 30 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor, and a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw stripe. Isaiah Tisdale torched Lewis & Clark for a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Nate Hansen would round out the Blazers in double-figures with 12.

The #5 VU Trailblazers look to hold on to their spot atop the District 16 regular season standings as they head to Olney Central on Saturday. Tip is set for 4:00 p.m. EST. Go VU!
