At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

Mosely’s National-Caliber Weekend Paces Trailblazers at 2018 Little State Championships

Marion,IN – Sophomore All-American Marlowe Mosely garnered the Little State Championships Male Track Athlete of the Meet award for the 2nd consecutive year by turning in an All-American caliber set of performances this weekend.

Mosely started the weekend by clocking the 5th fastest time in Vincennes University history in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.33 seconds. That time punches Mosely’s ticket to the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in El Dorado, Kansas in May.

He continued to Saturday, where he turned in a jaw-dropping set of performances on Day 2 of the Indiana Little State Championships. Mosely won the 400-meter run in 47.67 seconds, punching his 2nd ticket to El Dorado on the weekend. Mosely then turned around in less than 5 minutes, and placed 7th in the 100-meter dash. He rebounded to win the 200-meter dash in 21.77 seconds, and rounded out the day by anchoring a 4x400-meter relay team of: Freshman Cambrin Dixon, Freshman Javon Wilkerson, Sophomore Joe Tarpeh, and himself to a 3rd place finish. Mosely’s split was a blistering 46.50 seconds.

However, Mosely wasn’t the only Trailblazer to light the track on fire this weekend. Sophomore All-American Evan Franklin led a string of 3 Blazers to scoring points in the 5k. Franklin captured the win by closing his last 400-meters in 63.48 seconds, and clocked the 2nd fastest time in VU history in the process. Freshman Michael DeMeyer finished 4th, and Freshman Atlantis Green finished 7th in 15 minutes and 55 seconds, his first-time under 16-minutes. The trio of distance athletes tallied 17 points for the team.

Freshman Marcus Graham finished 2nd in the 10,000-meter run, and Sophomore Collin Zollman: punched his ticket to nationals in the 3,000-meter steeple chase, finished 6th in the race to score points for the Trailblazers, and clocked a personal best of 9 minutes and 59 seconds.

The Blazers will return to action on May 3rd-5th at the NJCAA Region XII Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Vincennes University. The first day of competition will begin at 4:30 p.m. on the 3rd! Go VU!
