Vincennes University's Associate Degree in FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES will provide the first two years of study toward your bachelor's degree.
WHAT IS IT?
The field of Family and Consumer Sciences is concerned with improving the life of individuals and families, and includes such diverse areas as:
- Food, Nutrition, and Wellness
- Interior Design and Housing
- Family Relations and Human Development
- Textiles and Clothing
- Family Economics and Resource Management
As a family and consumer sciences professional, you may be employed in a vast array of positions. Traditional fields include teaching or cooperative extension work. You could also be employed in business, consumer affairs, finance, or communications.
MORE JOBS THAN QUALIFIED APPLICANTS
A study conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture indicates that throughout the beginning of the 21st century, there will be an abundance of well-paying jobs open to family and consumer science majors. The study predicts that there will be over 4,000 more jobs than trained persons to fill them.
