Vincennes University's Distance Education offers students the opportunity to pursue their education goals without having to spend extended periods of time on a college campus. Over 500 courses are offered through the Distance Education Program, with more than 20 degrees available entirely online. This program is designed for non-traditional students who have attained Journeyman or equivalent in a skilled trade and wish to fulfill the basic requirements for an Associate degree. The program provides flexibility by allowing students to receive credit for training received through a certified Department of Labor apprenticeship program (7200 hours minimum) or an evaluation conducted by Vincennes University. In addition to these credits, students must complete selected general education courses and fulfill a minimum residency requirement of no less than fifteen credit hours through Vincennes University

I.T. & Business Services

The Health Information Management Program requires that all students submit a criminal history report and a drug screen as instructed and at student's expense. Students should be aware that any previous or current conviction of a crime or current substance abuse may result in ineligibility to be admitted and or/continue in the program. Students are responsible for submitting (at their expense) any required health forms or other documentation required by the University/Professional Practice sites (PPE).
  • The following course/s will require your physical presence: HIMT 190 - Professional Practice, HIMT 240 - Professional Practice II (These course are only available in the Fall and Spring semesters for Distance Ed. students. Students will need to use different clinical sites for HIMT 190 and HIMT 240.)

Admission into this baccalaureate degree program is contingent on acceptance to Vincennes University and will require approval of the Homeland Security and Public Safety Baccalaureate Degree Department Chair and the Dean of Business and Convergent Technologies.
  • The following course will require your physical presence: HSPS 470: Internship in Public Safety. Additionally, HSPS 415: Intro to Terrorism and HSPS 490: Capstone in HSPS must be take in person if the student resides within 25 miles the Vincennes campus. (Unless an exception is approved by the Department Chair, Professor Lou Caprino)

This A.S. degree program is designed for students wishing to begin employment immediately upon receiving their degree. This A.S. degree program is designed for students wishing to transfer to a baccalaureate degree institution.

Building & Construction

Registered Nurses who have completed an Associate Degree or diploma from a program that is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN, formerly NLNAC) may apply for admission to the RN to BSN program.  

Applicants must possess a Registered Nurse license prior to beginning any clinical nursing courses.  With a limited number of positions available, applicants are encouraged to pay attention to posted application deadlines.  Students enrolled in the RN to BSN Program have the option of taking courses full time or part time, but the Program must be completed within 5 years of the first nursing course.   Program start dates include Fall (August) and Spring (January).

1.    Complete the RN-BSN application form.  There is no application fee. Submit the application to vunursing@vinu.edu, fax to 812-888-4550, or mail to the address below.
