Director, Center for Technology, Innovation, & Manufacturing – Jasper, IN

Vincennes University Jasper (VUJ) is looking for a dynamic individual to lead the Center for Technology, Innovation and Manufacturing (CTIM). As VUJ nears celebrating its 50th year of service, and with the recent Dubois County Ready Schools Initiative partnership, it could not be a more exciting time to begin this position! The successful candidate will play an important role in the overall Jasper campus enrollment growth plan, engaging key constituents from the region around common goals.

 

This position is responsible for:

 

Program/ Facility Management and Strategic Planning

  • Create and contribute to a positive work environment through intentional communications.

  • Coordinate, recruit, and supervise academic programs and partnerships housed in the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Manufacturing.

  • Manage an advising caseload of CTIM program students ensuring timely degree completion.

  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate instructors and lab support staff.

  • Lead the selection, installation, scheduling and implementation of curriculum, equipment, and instructors.

  • Serve as CTIM building administrator ensuring facilities are utilized safely and effectively.

  • Collaborate with Technology faculty and staff at the Vincennes Campus to ensure consistency of

    academic programming.

  • Teach subjects for which qualified (credit & non-credit, regular semester classes & short-term training, any time of day).

 

Recruitment and Community Engagement

  • Grow student enrollment in and expand program offerings available at the CTIM.

  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for the department.

  • Manage and implement a robust communications plan engaging and informing key constituents.

  • Cultivate and expand strong partnerships with area manufacturers and high schools.

  • Collaborate with Purdue University's TAP and other university program representatives.

  • Develop and implement innovative advanced manufacturing and logistics seminars,

    demonstrations and tours.

  • Manage and maintain the internship process and experience for CAP students.

  • Chair and facilitate two industry partner advisory boards ensuring relevancy of program curriculum, equipment, facilities and the internship experience.

  • Represent the CTIM and Vincennes University Jasper at approved events and recruitment opportunities (minimal travel required).

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, an advanced degree and/or certifications are preferred.

  • Strong belief in the Vincennes University Jasper mission and a desire to make an impact on higher education and workforce development opportunities throughout the region.

  • Possess strong communication, planning and organizational skills.

  • Maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.

  • Work experience with advanced manufacturing technologies, or knowledge of manufacturing and lean manufacturing processes.

Executive Director, Vincennes University Foundation/Senior Director of Advancement, Vincennes University - VINCENNES, IN

 

The Vincennes University Foundation was established in 1975 to support the higher education and community service missions of Vincennes University. Reporting to the Vincennes University President and the Chair of the VU Foundation Board of Directors, the Executive Director of the VU Foundation will also serve as the Senior Director of Advancement for the University and will provide leadership and execution of all fund development activities; this includes but is not limited to: major gifts, planned giving, annual campaigns, capital campaigns and yearly fundraising events. This position will work closely with Senior leadership as well as individual departments to develop institutional priorities and work passionately to raise funds in support of these goals. The Executive Director must have the ability to strengthen VU’s relationship with the individuals, families, alumni, community organizations and companies that support Vincennes University. This entrepreneurial-spirited position must have a strong understanding of Vincennes University’s mission, its role in higher education and its importance to the industries and families of Indiana.

This position is responsible for:

Fund Development & Financial Management

  • Ensure a strategic and comprehensive fund development plan that identifies prospects and donors and enhances the short and long term funding base for the Foundation.
  • Ensure establishment of a diverse donor base of individual, corporate, foundation, and public donors.
  • Personally build loyal and long term relationships with key donor segments based on mission, cultivation and stewardship, program outcomes and sound fiscal management.
  • Ensure ethical standards and legal processes of fund development are adhered.

  • Work closely with investment consultants and custodians and the VU Foundation Investment Committee to ensure funds are maintained in a fiscally-responsible manner.

  • Oversee the development of all financial and operational plans with oversight of the organizational budgets and monitoring of the progress and changes related to the budgets.

Planning and Evaluation

  • Cultivate a strong Board of Directors willing to lead and contribute to the development of prospects and cultivation of major donors.

  • Engage the Board of Directors to leverage and secure resources and contribute expertise and advice on short and long term strategic goals.

Board and Committee Organization

  • Ensure meaningful and effective partnerships with key public and private sector entities to reinforce the Vincennes University mission and its role in higher education.
  • Provide guidance to staff on the planning of VU Foundation events including Alumni Community Series, Trailblazer Golf Tour and other special events hosted by the VU Foundation.

Director of Marketing and University Relations – VINCENNES, IN

Full-time

 

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the Director of Marketing and University Relations. This position will manage and execute marketing activities and media relations under the direction of Vincennes University’s Senior Director of External Relations. The position is focused on formulating innovative concepts that support the VU brand, marketing, recruitment, and online development goals. The Director will provide direction to the University’s talented visual design team, as well as well as be the leader of audio/video productions, manage web development and content generation, and solidify communication streams for external audiences including both paid and earned media.

This position is responsible for:

MARKETING-BRANDING (35%)

  • Be a leading contributor to the development of cohesive branding and messaging that supports the mission and vision of Vincennes University, as well as, the University strategic plan

  • Manage the production and design of promotional materials

  • Communicate marketing efforts, branding guidelines, and other information effectively to components of the VU system

  • Serve as the primary producer/editor for audio and video productions for VU marketing

  • Provide regular reports including web analytics, lead generation, and market performance ROI

  • Operate within a flexible duty set in order to adapt to University changes in marketing and recruitment

  • Maintain an understanding of marketing trends across both educational and commercial landscapes

  • Collaborate with program and team members to refine workflow;

  • Support internal communication efforts

  • Manage student workers/interns assigned to online content support.

  • Source external suppliers which may include web designers, freelance companies, online services and illustrators

  • Remain aware and versed in emerging technology or communication streams that may be beneficial to University communications

MEDIA/UNIVERSITY RELATIONS (15%)

  • Assure continuity and consistency in the production of media releases

  • Solidify integrated messaging between paid and earned media

  • Streamline intake processes for event and news information

  • Support interdepartmental sharing and production of University stories

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (20%)

  • Serve as the liaison between the senior director and the marketing/public relations teams of External Relations

  • Oversee the activities of the University Life Reporter and direct reports which include the Communications Coordinator and the BlazerVision Supervisor

  • Guide a decentralized online management plan

  • Implement a vibrant student intern and student worker program to support the activities of External Relations

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with minimum 3 years professional work required and two years management experience is preferred.

University Life Reporter/Sports Information Director

Full-time

 

The role of the University Life (UL) Reporter/Sports Information Director is that of a master storyteller with a keen sense for producing compelling human-interest stories that capture the spirit, mission, and vision of Vincennes University.  The ULR/SID will be well-versed in video and audio production with the ability to transgress multiple production and journalistic styles.  This position is also an important contributor to reputation and brand management as well as a key team member in crisis communications. This position will work closely with student interns/workers.

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenured, professional staff position with benefits. This position reports to the leadership of External Relations with close collaboration with the University’s executive leadership.

  • Serves as the primary reporter for news/sports stories, press events, feature stories, and special interest articles

  • Understands the intersection of paid, owned, and earned media and integrated communication strategies

  • Drives content to support the broadening of the Vincennes University footprint as well as elevating the institution’s reputation

  • Exercises good judgement when handling complex and sensitive issues in high-pressure situations

This position is responsible for:

UNIVERSITY DIGITAL STORYTELLING (65%)

  • Produces consistent, compelling content based on University platform development, student and program successes and relevant trends

  • Creates multiple stories on a daily basis including sports coverage

  • Cultivates relationships across campus to showcase academics, the arts, events, campus life, and both institutional and personnel accomplishments

  • Mentors and develops a program utilizing student storytellers

  • Serves as a member of the Crisis Communications Team which includes the execution of emergency alerts
     

DIGITAL MEDIA (20%)

  • Contributes to social media strategies in coordination with the Creative Director of University Marketing and the Communications Coordinator

  • Creates content in the appropriate format for online communications including University and athletic sites

  • Maintains an active understanding of best practices for online communications

  • Assists with live streams for key University activities

 

SPORTS INFORMATION (15%)

  • Collaborate with University Athletics personnel and University Relations for the creation and distribution of sports releases

  • Provide multimedia support to media and NJCAA requests as well as internal entities such as BlazerVision

  • Assist with media guide content

  • Maintains an active understanding of best practices for online communications

Assists with live streams for key University activities

The successful candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree required in telecommunications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field.

  • Demonstrates the ability to conceptualize ideas and generate story content
  • Demonstrates a high level of multimedia production skills including sharp writing, attention to detail, creativity, and superb editing
  • Maintains a strong understanding of best practices, trends and innovations in modern journalism and content marketing  
  • Ensures that stories are compelling and carry the appropriate tone
  • Produces high volumes of content in a deadline-driven environment
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communications skills for both group and one-on-one situations.
  • Possesses excellent organizational and project management skills and proficiency in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner and on deadline.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of social media, including social networks, blogs, mobile/location-based and emerging technologies.
  • Possesses proficiency in Microsoft Office
