Semester Contract (Fall 2018)

The Art & Design department at Vincennes University is seeking applicants for a Graphic Design Semester Contract position.

Responsibilities include teaching foundation studio courses in Illustrator, Photoshop and graphic design. Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Mac-based OS preferred. Successful applicants will work closely with students from a wide range of educational backgrounds.

The successful candidate has:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in Graphic Design or related area, plus five years of professional graphic design experience, required

  • Master’s Degree (equivalent or higher) in Graphic Design or related area, preferred

  • College-level lecture and studio course teaching experience, preferred.

Biomedical Equipment Technician Instructor – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                    

The College of Technology at Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Biomedical Equipment Technician Instructor. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track position. This position reports to the Electronics Department Chair and Dean of Technology.  

This position is responsible for:

  • Maintain the Biomedical Equipment Technician program by keeping curriculum current with employer expectations.

  • Instruct and evaluate students in a lecture/lab classroom setting.

  • Give guidance to the students as they complete their lab assignments demonstrating their skills in routine maintenance, troubleshooting and problem solving.

  • Be knowledgeable in biomedical equipment, electronics, and basic computer networking.

  • Ability to communicate with students during various stages of the learning process and to reach each student at his/her maximum learning potential. 

  • Organize and present prepared instructional materials at scheduled times and places.

  • Preserve communications with students and colleagues to assure efficient and effective instruction.

  • Uphold records of student attendance, student progress, departmental supplies, departmental equipment, and others.

  • Maintain discipline and order during instructional activities.

  • Participate in normal program housekeeping activities.

  • Assist in student recruiting and graduate placement.

  • Evaluate the progress and performance of the student and assign grades.  Enforce the approved departmental rules and regulations in the classroom and lab; recommend student counseling, probation, or dismissal for excess absences, disruption of class, or lack of progress.

  • Initiate requisitions and work order requests.

  • Suspend unsafe operation.

  • Embrace an active learning environment.

  • Recruit new students and participate in marketing events for the College of Technology.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate has:

  • Associate degree in Biomedical/Electronics Technology or related area plus a minimum of five years full time, documented industry experience.

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Biomedical Equipment Technology or related area plus five years full time industry experience is preferred.

  • Networking experience with Cisco and/or current Microsoft operating systems with related certification.

Precision Machining Instructor – Lebanon, IN

Full-time

 

The College of Technology at Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Precision Machining Instructor at the HTEC Training Center in Lebanon, IN. This is a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track position. This position reports to the Precision Machining Program Coordinator and Dean of Technology.  

This position is responsible for:

  • Teach Precision Machining and Right Skills Now CNC classes within the HTEC Training Center as assigned

  • Work flexible hours

  • Assist with contests and other events relating to the department as assigned

  • Serve as an advisor to students as assigned

The successful candidate has:

  • Minimum of AS degree in Precision Machining Technology or equivalent plus 2 years documented work experience in Precision Machining –or- minimum 5 years documented work experience in Precision Machining.

  • Teaching experience preferred.

  • Technical proficiency in manual machining and CNC Machining.

  • Technically proficient/fluent with CAD-CAM software – Mastercam preferred.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of CNC equipment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)

Diesel Technology Instructor – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                    

The College of Technology at Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Diesel Technology Instructor. This is a full-time, nine month, non-tenure track position. This position reports to the Diesel Program Coordinator and Dean of Technology.  

This position is responsible for:

  • Play a pivotal role in the expansion of our Diesel Technology program. 

  • Give guidance to the students as they complete their lab assignments demonstrating their skills in routine maintenance, troubleshooting and problem solving mechanical issues of large trucks and engines on a daily basis.

  • Be knowledgeable in brakes, electrical (basic and advanced), engines, HVAC, hydraulics, powertrain, preventive maintenance, steering and suspension systems of over the road diesel trucks, industrial or agriculture equipment.

  • Ability to communicate with students during various stages of the learning process and to reach each student at his/her maximum learning potential. 

  • Organize and present prepared instructional materials at scheduled times and places.

  • Preserve communications with students and colleagues to assure efficient and effective instruction.

  • Communicate subject material to students in an understandable and patience format

  • Embrace an active learning environment.

  • Recruit new students and participate in marketing events for the College of Technology

The successful candidate has:

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Diesel Technology or related area plus a minimum of three years full time industry experience and applicable ASE certifications.

  • Associate's degree in Diesel Technology or related area plus a minimum of five years full time, documented industry experience and applicable ASE certifications or ability to complete.

  • Related course disciplines/experiences within: Diesel Technology, Diesel Management, Diesel Service Technology, Diesel Engineering, Automotive Technology and a minimum of eight years full time, documented experience in the field of Diesel or Automotive Technology plus applicable ASE certifications.

Product Design and Production Processes Faculty – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                             

The College of Technology at Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Product Design and Production Processes Faculty. This is a full-time, nine month, non-tenure track position. This position reports to the Product Design Coordinator and Dean of Technology.  

This position is responsible for:

  • Work collaboratively with the Manufacturing Department on the Vincennes campus

  • Teach Manual and Computer Aided Drafting, Additive Manufacturing, Reverse Engineering and other related classes

  • Assist students with labs and assignments both during class and outside of class as needed

  • Assess and record student progress through testing and lab work

     

  • Teach Product Design and Production Processes classes including the following:

    • Descriptive Geometry

    • Manual Drafting

    • Computer Aided Drafting using PTC Creo and AutoCAD

    • Tool Design Principals

    • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

    • Additive Manufacturing

    • Reverse Engineering

    • Other related Product Design courses

  • Maintain lab equipment for student use

  • Prepare and deliver hands-on drafting and design labs for students

  • Assess student progress through testing and lab work

  • Turn in data for assessment to program coordinator

  • Submit grades as required by the University Manual

  • Develop and maintain relationships with High School faculty to facilitate recruiting

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Industry to facilitate education and job placement

  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate has:

  • Minimum of Associate’s Degree in Product Design and Production Processes or equivalent Drafting/Design program. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of verifiable industry experience in the drafting and design field
  • Experience and proven proficiency with PTC Creo and AutoCAD
  • Experience and solid working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with the ASME Y14.5-2009 standard
  • A working knowledge of 3-D printing and 3-D scanning equipment and processes
  • Teaching experience is preferred

Vincennes University Jasper Campus is seeking applicants for the position of Nursing Faculty.   This full-time, non-tenure track position. The position will begin August 2018.

  • Responsibilities include functioning as a team member in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum and course materials, clinical and lab supervision of nursing students, classroom teaching, and student advising responsibilities.

Science Faculty (VUJC) – Jasper, IN

Full-time                        

Vincennes University Jasper Campus is seeking applications for Science Faculty. This is a full-time faculty, non-tenure track position, with the potential for tenure track placement, reporting to the VUJ Department Chair and Jasper Campus Dean while working closely with the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics. The successful candidate will teach classes in Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and other related courses on the Jasper Campus.

English Faculty (2 positions) – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                        

The Department of English at Vincennes University is seeking applicants to fill two full-time, continuing faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor of English. This position reports to the Chairperson of the Department of English and the Dean of the College of Humanities.

This position is responsible for:

  • Teaching 15 credit hours a semester of developmental and first-year composition as assigned;

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • K-6 teaching experience in Special Education, 5 yrs. Minimum
  • Master’s Degree in Education

Preferred Requirements

 

  • Ph.D, EdD, or ABD in a field appropriate to the course of study given higher consideration

    Higher education teaching experience

  • Accreditation experience with either or The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) or The National Council of Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE)

  • Special consideration is to candidates with credentials in both elementary and special education.

Program Chair, B.S. Technology – Vincennes, IN

Vincennes University, a state supported, comprehensive college of nearly 19,000 students is seeking applicants for the position of Program Chair for BS in Technology on the Vincennes campus.  This is a 12-month, full-time faculty position. The Program Chair will report to the Dean of the College of Technology.   

 

The Program Chair for the BS in Technology will be part of a team of educators who are committed to student learning and to meeting industry/workforce needs.  The Program Chair must demonstrate a strong service attitude, effective communication skills, on-going attention to best practices for workplace learning, and the ability to collaborate with diverse users and stakeholders.  This position will require the candidate to lead innovation and curriculum development to ensure that the program remains relevant and strong.  The baccalaureate programs at VU are a focal point in the strategic plan for the university and will be emphasized as an area of future growth.

This position is responsible for:

 

  • Coordinate and develop Technology-BS Program curriculum.
  • Supervise and source faculty to teach 300- and 400- level courses in this program.
  • Advise students in the Technology-BS Program and monitor progress.
  • Work collaboratively with other VU personnel in programs related to the Technology-BS. 
  • Teach courses in the Technology-BS Program, meeting expectations for VU faculty. 
  • Coordinate strategic efforts, such as assessment, for the Technology-BS program.
  • Work closely with the Office of Distance Education.
  • Communicate and collaborate with industry stakeholders.
  • Participate in recruitment activities to promote the Technology-BS program.
  • Collaborate with VU colleagues as opportunities arise to maintain a strong University community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

The successful candidate will have:

 

  • Master’s Degree is required with at least five years of full-time experience in educational administration and/or management.  A doctorate is preferred but may be replaced by exceptional skills or experience from among those noted in the responsibilities for this position.

 

  • The successful candidate must possess a leadership philosophy that emphasizes an environment of collegiality incorporating open communication and team management in addition to a strong background in technology (business, industry, and/or CTE). 

 

  • Interpersonal and communication skills will be required to work effectively with the University's diverse student population. The successful applicant must show evidence of a commitment to issues concerning student success.

     

Direct work experience should include the following:

  • Curriculum development.
  • Program/Course Assessment.
  • Proven leadership skills.
