Mathematics Faculty, Assistant Professor (2 positions) – Vincennes, IN

Full-time

 

The Mathematics Department of the College of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics at Vincennes University is seeking applicants for a Mathematics faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank.  This is a non-tenure-track, full-time faculty position, reporting to the Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics and the Dean of the College of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics.

This position is responsible for:

  • Teach 15 semester hours of math courses each semester, developmental through college transfer courses
  • Participate in planning, developing, and assessing student and course success
  • Maintain regular office hours
  • Comply with all record keeping requirements
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned

Successful candidates will have:

  • Master’s degree in mathematics, or a related field, with a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate level mathematics courses
  • Experience teaching developmental and transfer freshman and sophomore mathematics classes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • An ability to work with a variety of learning styles and skill levels
  • An ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and administrators

Anticipated Start Date:

August 2018

Nursing Faculty – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                      

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Full-time Nursing Faculty.   The position will begin January 2018.

  • Responsibilities include functioning as a team member in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum and course materials, clinical and lab supervision of nursing students, classroom teaching, and student advising responsibilities.

  • Teaching responsibilities may be in any of the VU nursing programs: Practical Nursing, Associate of Science, or RN to BSN Completion Program.

Successful candidates will have:

  • graduated from an accredited school of registered nursing,

  • Master’s degree in nursing, and

  • a current unencumbered Registered Nursing licensure in the State of Indiana.

  • Recent clinical experience required. Teaching experience and/or experience in critical care, medical-surgical, or psychiatric nursing preferred.

Program Chair, B.S. Technology – Vincennes, IN

Full-time

 

Vincennes University, a state supported, comprehensive college of nearly 19,000 students is seeking applicants for the position of Program Chair for BS in Technology on the Vincennes campus.  This is a 12-month, full-time faculty position. The Program Chair will report to the Dean of the College of Technology.   

 

The Program Chair for the BS in Technology will be part of a team of educators who are committed to student learning and to meeting industry/workforce needs.  The Program Chair must demonstrate a strong service attitude, effective communication skills, on-going attention to best practices for workplace learning, and the ability to collaborate with diverse users and stakeholders.  This position will require the candidate to lead innovation and curriculum development to ensure that the program remains relevant and strong.  The baccalaureate programs at VU are a focal point in the strategic plan for the university and will be emphasized as an area of future growth.

This position is responsible for:

 

  • Coordinate and develop Technology-BS Program curriculum.
  • Supervise and source faculty to teach 300- and 400- level courses in this program.
  • Advise students in the Technology-BS Program and monitor progress.
  • Work collaboratively with other VU personnel in programs related to the Technology-BS. 
  • Teach courses in the Technology-BS Program, meeting expectations for VU faculty. 
  • Coordinate strategic efforts, such as assessment, for the Technology-BS program.
  • Work closely with the Office of Distance Education.
  • Communicate and collaborate with industry stakeholders.
  • Participate in recruitment activities to promote the Technology-BS program.
  • Collaborate with VU colleagues as opportunities arise to maintain a strong University community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

The successful candidate will have:

 

  • Master’s Degree is required with at least five years of full-time experience in educational administration and/or management.  A doctorate is preferred but may be replaced by exceptional skills or experience from among those noted in the responsibilities for this position.

 

  • The successful candidate must possess a leadership philosophy that emphasizes an environment of collegiality incorporating open communication and team management in addition to a strong background in technology (business, industry, and/or CTE). 

 

  • Interpersonal and communication skills will be required to work effectively with the University's diverse student population. The successful applicant must show evidence of a commitment to issues concerning student success.

     

Direct work experience should include the following:

  • Curriculum development.
  • Program/Course Assessment.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Course programming/teaching in technology.
  • Distance education/Internet-based learning (Blackboard a plus).

GEOSCIENCE ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - VINCENNES, IN

Full-time

 

The Vincennes University Department of Geosciences, Agriculture and Horticulture is seeking a full time teaching faculty in the Geosciences area starting in the August Fall term.

  • Duties would include a mix of several classes potentially including from among General Earth Science, Intro to Geospatial Science, General Hydrology, Weather and Climate, World Geography, Oceanography, Geography of Indiana. Some courses also include labs.

  • The position would also include department, college, and university committee work, assessment, recruitment and retention activity, advising, and office hours.

 

Preferred Experience:   

The ideal candidate will be a broadly trained geoscientist with a minimum of a Master’s degree in a Physical Geography area, Earth System Science, Meteorology, Geospatial Sciences, or similar.

Preference given to those applicants with expertise in GIS and Meteorology.
