Educational Coach (COPE) – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                           

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for a COPE SSS Educational Coach. This is a full time professional staff position.

COPE Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program which provides academic assistance, coaching, mentoring, and non-cognitive strategies to qualifying college students with all aspects of the college experience, with a goal to assist with retention, graduation, and transfer to four-year degree programs.

Work Hours will vary dependent upon Educational Coach’s schedule. The COPE SSS office hours are typically Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., as well as some evenings. Pre-VU and START VU Saturdays are from 8 am at the Student Union and conducting potential participant interviews until 4:30 pm.

This position is responsible for the following:

  • Coaches, mentors, and records student services
  • Transition facilitation from high school to postsecondary
  • Assists students with FAFSA
  • Assists transfer to four-year institutions of higher education
  • Interviews students
  • Develops and presents small groups and workshops
  • Tutors students
  • Completes data for annual performance report
  • Coordinates services with community agencies
  • Assist with student organization, Triple S, activities/events
  • Assists students in career exploration
  • Performs a variety of duties for COPE SSS Program (e.g., conduct workshops, assist with newsletters)

  • Understands ADA, Section 504 federal laws
  • Maintains FERPA, HIPAA
  • Works as a collaborative team member
  • Works some evenings for workshops, field trips, Etiquette Dinners etc.
  • Works Saturdays for Pre-VU and START VU days
  • Reports to the COPE SSS Director

The successful applicant will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required,
  • Minimum of two years working with underrepresented students required

  • Master’s preferred in education, social work or related field
  • Experience in higher education preferred

University Life Reporter/Sports Information Director

Full-time

 

The role of the University Life (UL) Reporter/Sports Information Director is that of a master storyteller with a keen sense for producing compelling human-interest stories that capture the spirit, mission, and vision of Vincennes University.  The ULR/SID will be well-versed in video and audio production with the ability to transgress multiple production and journalistic styles.  This position is also an important contributor to reputation and brand management as well as a key team member in crisis communications. This position will work closely with student interns/workers.

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenured, professional staff position with benefits. This position reports to the leadership of External Relations with close collaboration with the University’s executive leadership.

  • Serves as the primary reporter for news/sports stories, press events, feature stories, and special interest articles

  • Understands the intersection of paid, owned, and earned media and integrated communication strategies

  • Drives content to support the broadening of the Vincennes University footprint as well as elevating the institution’s reputation

  • Exercises good judgement when handling complex and sensitive issues in high-pressure situations

This position is responsible for:

UNIVERSITY DIGITAL STORYTELLING (65%)

  • Produces consistent, compelling content based on University platform development, student and program successes and relevant trends

  • Creates multiple stories on a daily basis including sports coverage

  • Cultivates relationships across campus to showcase academics, the arts, events, campus life, and both institutional and personnel accomplishments

  • Mentors and develops a program utilizing student storytellers

  • Serves as a member of the Crisis Communications Team which includes the execution of emergency alerts
     

DIGITAL MEDIA (20%)

  • Contributes to social media strategies in coordination with the Creative Director of University Marketing and the Communications Coordinator

  • Creates content in the appropriate format for online communications including University and athletic sites

  • Maintains an active understanding of best practices for online communications

  • Assists with live streams for key University activities

 

SPORTS INFORMATION (15%)

  • Collaborate with University Athletics personnel and University Relations for the creation and distribution of sports releases

  • Provide multimedia support to media and NJCAA requests as well as internal entities such as BlazerVision

  • Assist with media guide content

  • Maintains an active understanding of best practices for online communications

Assists with live streams for key University activities

The successful candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree required in telecommunications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field.

  • Demonstrates the ability to conceptualize ideas and generate story content
  • Demonstrates a high level of multimedia production skills including sharp writing, attention to detail, creativity, and superb editing
  • Maintains a strong understanding of best practices, trends and innovations in modern journalism and content marketing  
  • Ensures that stories are compelling and carry the appropriate tone
  • Produces high volumes of content in a deadline-driven environment
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communications skills for both group and one-on-one situations.
  • Possesses excellent organizational and project management skills and proficiency in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner and on deadline.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of social media, including social networks, blogs, mobile/location-based and emerging technologies.
  • Possesses proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Weekday, weekend, and overnight travel will occur. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.

Additional preferred requirements would include training in Adobe Creative Suite products and a basic knowledge of intercollegiate athletics.

Case Manager (Generations) – Vincennes, IN

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Case Manager at Generations. This full-time, professional staff position reports to the Case Manager Coordinator.

This position is responsible for:

Implements the Case Management component of CHOICE (2.0), SSBG, Title III, Title IIIE Family Caregiver, Care Transitions, Grants, Medicaid Waivers, private pay, and fee-for service within the Case Management Dept.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Registered nurse with one year’s experience in human services.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Gerontology, Nursing, or Health and Human Services; or

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years full-time, direct service experience with the elderly or disabled (this experience must include assessment, care plan development, and monitoring); or

  • Master’s degree in a related field

  • Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse population, community leaders, public officials, township trustees, welfare department employees, nursing home personnel and physicians, the general public and especially the low-income individuals.

 

Within six months of initial employment must complete the Case Management certification through the Division of Aging.  Also required to obtain 20 hours Division of Aging approved training a year.  May be requested to obtain additional certifications, such as SHIP.

Early College Site Manager (Prosser Career Center) - New Albany, Indiana

Full-Time

Vincennes University, invites applications for the position of Early College Site Manager at the Prosser Career Center in New Albany, IN. This is a full-time, 12-month, professional staff position with benefits, reporting to an Assistant Dean of Early College.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct oversight of the Vincennes University curriculum at the Career Center site

  • Facilitate credentialing process for Career Center faculty

  • Manage the daily operations of the Early College office

  • Supervise VU office support staff at site

  • Provide educational programs promoting Vincennes University and Early College initiatives for students, parents and others

  • Collect and analyze pertinent dual credit data as requested

  • Oversee MyFoundationsLab and Accuplacer programs

  • Academic oversight and tracking of Early College student progress

  • Conduct individual student academic audits;

  • Maintain all student records including graduation audits and disciplinary action records for Early College students

  • Assist faculty in obtaining course instructional materials; training on Banner and other VU programs

  • Serve as an active member of the Career Center team

  • Student engagement and community building

  • Lead recruitment of students for all Early College and other VU programs

  • Participate in all Early College, Dual Credit and VU community events

  • Active participant in residential summer programming for Early College

  • Active participant on pertinent advisory board councils

  • Attend CTE transfer school meetings and events

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with Secondary Education and CTE credentials

Theatre Designer/Assistant Technical Director (Red Skelton Performing Arts Center) – Vincennes, IN

Full-time

 

The Theatre Designer/Assistant Technical Director shares responsibility for all technical operations in both the Main Stage and the Lab Theatre of the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center (RSPAC).  This individual is also responsible for designing, building and implementing the sets, lights and sound for Theater program productions along with supervising student workers in the same areas, including the stage management.  In addition, the position includes responsibility for student instruction in technical theater and general theater classes, serving the needs of the Theater Program in the College of Social Science and Performing Arts at Vincennes University.

 

This position is responsible for:

  • Designing sets, lights and sound for Theatre Program productions

  • Coordinating with colleagues for construction, painting, rigging, lighting, sound, properties, set pieces, and stage management

  • Supervising students with technical responsibilities and serving as mentor to students

  • Developing strategies for meeting theatre production needs within annual budget

  • Teaching classes in technical theatre, including but not limited to Stagecraft, Theatre Design, and Theatre Practicum in Technical Design

  • Coordinating and sharing with colleagues the responsibilities, scheduling, set-up and technical requirements of events and performances held in the RSPAC

  • Coordinating with RSPAC Manager to facilitate appropriate tech support assignments at RSPAC

  • Communicating effectively with VU students, staff, stakeholders, and the public

  • Participating in on-going assessment and recruiting activities for the program and the university

  • Serving as a RSPAC technical consultant with university and community groups

 

Division of duties as follows:  50% design and technical direction of Theatre Program productions, 30% RSPAC theatre technician, and 20% theatre related instruction.  The position reports to RSPAC Manager in all matters related to RSPAC technical theater operations and to the Program Chair of Theatre in matters of instruction and departmental productions.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in theater or related subject area is required with at least three years technical theater experience. 
  • Master’s degree is preferred to meet expectations for instructional responsibilities. 
  • Teaching experience in higher education is highly desirable.
  • Experience with several theater facilities is also a plus.
