Director of Library Services – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                            

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Director of Library Services. This is a full-time, professional staff position.

The Director is responsible for oversight of Shake Library and the Byron R. Lewis Historical Library, providing service to the Vincennes campus and to University users beyond the Vincennes campus of the University.  In addition to administrative duties, the Director is a qualified librarian who shares responsibility for library support to students, faculty, and staff in conjunction with other librarians. 

The Director of Library Services is one of five LRC Directors who work as a team to promote and facilitate student success through access to diverse resources available at the LRC.  The Director must demonstrate a strong service attitude, effective communication skills, on-going attention to current best practices for academic libraries, and the ability to collaborate with diverse users and stakeholders.  The Library Director reports to the Assistant Provost for Curriculum and Instruction.  The Director will give priority attention to student service, not collection development.

This position is responsible for:

  • Coordinates efforts with stakeholders system-wide to support student learning, specifically with library resources.

  • Supervises professional librarians along with full-time and part-time library staff and student workers to address library needs.

  • Develops and administers the Library budget.

  • Provides reference services, class instruction, and acquisitions assistance as one of the full-time librarians.

  • Coordinates efforts for student service with other Directors at LRC.

  • Supports strategic initiatives for the University.

  • Leads assessment efforts for library services that support student learning.

  • Participates in professional development to maintain best practices for academic libraries at LRC.

  • Works nights and weekends as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate has:

  • MLS Degree or equivalent in Library and Information Science/Studies from an American Library Association accredited program.

  • Must have at least five years’ full-time professional experience in a library, with supervisory experience over both professional staff and non-professional staff, including student workers and/or interns.

  • Preference will be given to individuals who are committed to student service and student-centered learning centers.

Case Manager (Generations) – Vincennes, IN

Full-Time                     

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Case Manager at Generations. This full-time, professional staff position reports to the Case Manager Coordinator.

This position is responsible for:

Implements the Case Management component of CHOICE (2.0), SSBG, Title III, Title IIIE Family Caregiver, Care Transitions, Grants, Medicaid Waivers, private pay, and fee-for service within the Case Management Dept.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Registered nurse with one year’s experience in human services.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Gerontology, Nursing, or Health and Human Services; or

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years full-time, direct service experience with the elderly or disabled (this experience must include assessment, care plan development, and monitoring); or

  • Master’s degree in a related field

  • Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse population, community leaders, public officials, township trustees, welfare department employees, nursing home personnel and physicians, the general public and especially the low-income individuals.

 

Within six months of initial employment must complete the Case Management certification through the Division of Aging.  Also required to obtain 20 hours Division of Aging approved training a year.  May be requested to obtain additional certifications, such as SHIP.

Student Success Coordinator – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                 

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position for Student Success Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Student Success, the Success Coordinator will work with faculty advisors and other University personnel to improve student persistence and completion: Career and Technical Education guidance is an essential component of the job along with strategies to assist students at-risk. Student Success Coordinators advise University College students and help undecided students identify reasonable pathways to graduation and employment. Beyond serving undecided and at-risk students, Success Coordinators help first-year students who seek a change of major. 
 

This is a 12-month professional staff position beginning February 2018. 

Successful candidates will have:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree; Masters in Student Personnel or Counseling area is preferred

  • Experience as academic advisor or counselor

  • Documented experience working with at-risk students

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with Banner Student Information System or related system

  • Experience with formulating and analyzing data

CTE Early College Site Manager – Greenwood, IN

The CTE Early College Site Manager has a critical role in serving as a resource for faculty, staff, students and parents at the Career Center Site and developing collegial relationships with faculty and staff in Vincennes University system.

Lab Supervisor – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                      

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Biology Laboratory Supervisor. This is a 12 month, professional staff position.

This position is responsible for:

  • Preparation materials and cultures for Biology supervises student workers, sets up and takes down equipment for laboratories as scheduled, supervises open laboratory sessions, and teaches up to 6 laboratory hours per year, when necessary.

  • Working collaboratively with the chairperson to maintain the departmental budget.

  • Manages the departmental inventory (supplies, equipment, and chemical reagents), maintains organization and cleanliness of the laboratories and stockroom while maintaining departmental organisms (fish tank, etc.).

Maintains all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) in order to meet OSHA compliance, is responsible for ordering supplies and chemicals, and is expected to take part in department and division meetings.

Industrial Maintenance Training Instructor – Fort Branch, IN

Full-time                             

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Industrial Maintenance Training Instructor of the Advanced Machinery Manufacturing Technician NOW program.  The goal of AMMT is to quickly meet the skilled worker needs of Indiana’s growing manufacturing sector.  This is a full time professional staff position with benefits located at the Gibson County Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics in Fort Branch, IN.

This job is responsible for:

  • Support the ongoing development of the industrial maintenance training programs and related training and certification programs at Vincennes University.

  • Help maintain the industrial maintenance lab including all related training equipment, software and LAPs.

  • This position requires strong teaching and leadership skills.

  • Instructor’s primary role will be to teach various training sessions to include most sections of the 16 week Advanced Manufacturing Machine Technician NOW program that is focused on military veteran and civilian adult learners.Training is usually during daytime hours.

  • Employee must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Instructor will be expected to continuously improve and develop our industrial maintenance seminars.

  • Instructor may be asked to help develop and carry out inspirational advanced manufacturing seminars, demonstrations and tours from time to time.

  • Ability to work and prioritize duties without constant supervision.

  • Strong communication, planning and organizational skills.

  • A self-motivator with the ability and willingness to maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.

  • A minimum of five years full-time experience as a manufacturing engineer, controls engineer or in an industrial maintenance field is required. 
  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in electricity, engineering, industrial maintenance or electrical related technologies from an accredited institution is required. 
  • Experience in most of the following areas is required:  electricity, electric motor circuits, control circuits, PLC’s, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, safety and print reading. 
  • At least two years’ experience in an academic setting or teaching environment is preferred but not required. 
  • Must be organized, self-motivated individual who works well with the team.  Good communication, presentation skills, and a positive attitude are a must.

Responsibilities for this position are:

  • Provide services to individuals from the local community who are seeking employment and or training in demand occupations in order to gain self-sufficiency.

  • Lead the promotion and facilitation of Workforce Development and educational activities on an assigned county basis.Consult and provide technical assistance to individuals and groups involved with business, industry, social service agencies, schools, and other community based organizations.

The Assistant Dean has a critical role in serving as a resource for faculty, staff, students and parents at the Tippecanoe School Corporation and local Career Center.  This is a full-time, twelve-month Professional Staff position.

This position is responsible for:

  • Reporting to the Vincennes University Early College Dean, the Assistant Dean of Instruction is responsible for academic and administrative oversight of all early college programs and services offered at the Tippecanoe School Corporation and Career Center.
  • Serve as the academic advisor for all Tippecanoe and Career Center students enrolled in the Vincennes University early college program
  • Provide educational programs promoting Vincennes University and Early College initiatives for students, parents and others
  • Conduct individual student academic audits;
  • Maintain all student records including graduation audits and disciplinary action records for early college students
  • Work cooperatively with the School Corporation and Career Center administration to ensure the smooth operation of the day-to-day instructional operation; oversee daily operations of the early college office;
  • Supervise VU office support staff at site;
  • Communicate with the early college staff and other VU academic department chairs and deans in ensuring an effective and efficient schedule;
  • Facilitate credentialing process for faculty;
  • Ensure adequate training of the early college instructors in the use of University instructional and support technology including Banner and Blackboard;
  • Participate in budget planning and oversight; supply curriculum and program review;
  • Develop annual site goals and objectives;
  • Coordinate program articulation, outcomes assessment and accreditation; support the University’s outreach programs;
  • Serve as an active member of the School Corporation and Career Center team
  • Serve as a member of the Vincennes University administrative team. In addition, the Assistant Dean is to serve as the lead administrator in the development and operation of regional Vincennes University Early College High School partnerships.
  • Active participant in residential summer programming for Early College
  • Active participant on pertinent advisory board councils

Successful Candidates will have:

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree required in related field; doctoral degree in related field preferred;

Primary Function:

The Assistant Director, Multicultural Student Affairs has primary responsibility for the identification and coordination of programs and initiatives which promote engagement and academic achievement for minority students in the campus community.   • Assist in the planning, while being responsible for the implementation, of the Summer SWAG program.
  • Recruitment of students during START VU
  • Overseeing the Summer Swag daily schedule
  • Supervision of SWAG student staff
  • Assist with the new student orientation program
  • Develop the appropriate information channels to inform and assist minority students with the following opportunities: scholarships, educational assistance, student activities, employment options, Transfer planning, Career Center assistance
  • Build relationships with students in the campus community through active participation in evening and weekend activities, student organization meetings, and Residence Hall programs
  • Assist the Director in contacting and/or referring students with TAPS notices
  • Counsel students regarding student life issues
  • Support, plan, and/or implement campus activities, community services, educational programs, and/or special events that aid in student development
  • Provide support and advise to recognized student groups that assists students in achieving their goals at Vincennes University concerning their academic, social, and professional development
