Industrial Maintenance Training Instructor – Fort Branch, IN

Full-time                             

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Industrial Maintenance Training Instructor of the Advanced Machinery Manufacturing Technician NOW program.  The goal of AMMT is to quickly meet the skilled worker needs of Indiana’s growing manufacturing sector.  This is a full time professional staff position with benefits located at the Gibson County Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics in Fort Branch, IN.

This job is responsible for:

  • Support the ongoing development of the industrial maintenance training programs and related training and certification programs at Vincennes University.

  • Help maintain the industrial maintenance lab including all related training equipment, software and LAPs.

  • This position requires strong teaching and leadership skills.

  • Instructor’s primary role will be to teach various training sessions to include most sections of the 16 week Advanced Manufacturing Machine Technician NOW program that is focused on military veteran and civilian adult learners.Training is usually during daytime hours.

  • Employee must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Instructor will be expected to continuously improve and develop our industrial maintenance seminars.

  • Instructor may be asked to help develop and carry out inspirational advanced manufacturing seminars, demonstrations and tours from time to time.

  • Ability to work and prioritize duties without constant supervision.

  • A minimum of five years full-time experience as a manufacturing engineer, controls engineer or in an industrial maintenance field is required. 
  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in electricity, engineering, industrial maintenance or electrical related technologies from an accredited institution is required. 
  • Experience in most of the following areas is required:  electricity, electric motor circuits, control circuits, PLC’s, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, safety and print reading. 
  • At least two years’ experience in an academic setting or teaching environment is preferred but not required. 
  • Must be organized, self-motivated individual who works well with the team.  Good communication, presentation skills, and a positive attitude are a must.

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of JAG Specialist. This full-time, Professional Staff position in Workforce Development Services, Region 8.

  • The Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) Workforce Training Specialist is responsible for providing JAG services within a specific High School in Region 8. This position requires building relationships with educational institutions, employers, community organizations and the participating JAG school personnel. This position is responsible for fully implementing the JAG Model in an assigned school and achieving process standards and performance goals. This is a teaching position requiring daily classroom instruction of students to develop education and career skills.

  • The JAG Specialist functionally reports to the JAG Program Manager formally reports to Executive Director of Workforce Development Services. In addition, this position receives general supervision and guidance the Operations Manager and the PDT Manager. Job responsibilities are to be performed within the general policies of Vincennes University as defined by the University Manual, Indiana Department of Workforce Development Services Policy, Region 8 Integrated Procedures, Policy Letters, Policy of host High School, JAG Manual, internal organizational charts, position descriptions, and verbal instructions. The individual exercises daily, independent non-routine decision making which demands initiative, management skills, sound judgment, and positive communication skills. Position requires strong public speaking, presentation skills and the ability to work independently.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience working with youth accompanied by knowledge of adolescent development issues.

  • Skills in human relationships, leadership, supervision, and motivational techniques.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

  • Ability to establish the appropriate boundaries, while developing and nurturing supportive relationships with students.

  • Ability to educate a variety of constituencies and interested parties about the program by developing ongoing relationships and making formal presentations.

  • Ability to develop curriculum and educational opportunities consistent with the JAG model.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite Software, web-based applications and data management systems.

Successful candidates will have:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in the area of education, and training, human resources, economic development or related fields.

  • Individual must be detail orientated and able to compile reports. Work is performed independently with minimal supervision.

  • Position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel by both public transportation as well as private transportation including self-transportation. Ability to transport students may be required. Travel out of the area may be required for training purposes.

Salary range: $30,000 - $32,000.  Salary will be determined on the basis of experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Admissions Counselor – Jasper, IN

Responsibilities for this position are:

  • Provide services to individuals from the local community who are seeking employment and or training in demand occupations in order to gain self-sufficiency.

Options Counselor (Generations) – Vincennes, IN

Full-Time              

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Option Counselor at Generations. This full-time, professional staff position reports to the Assistant Director of Operations.

This position is responsible for:

  • Implementation of the Options Counseling component of the Aging and Disability Resource Center and provides support to the other program areas within the ADRC as needed. This position requires the individual to assess those who are in need of assistance. This assessment may be completed over the phone, at their place of residence, at the hospital or nursing facility. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, determine level of need, and make recommendations is a must.  This position requires the ability to maintain current program and resource knowledge and integrate this information into resolutions for callers.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Registered nurse with one year’s experience in human services.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Gerontology, Nursing, or Health and Human Services; or

     

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years full-time, direct service experience with the elderly or disabled (this experience must include assessment, care plan development, and monitoring); or

     

  • Master’s degree in a related field

  • Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse population, community leaders, public officials, township trustees, welfare department employees, nursing home personnel and physicians, the general public and especially the low-income individuals.

 

Within six months of initial employment must complete the Case Management certification through the Division of Aging.  Also required to obtain 20 hours Division of Aging approved training a year.  May be requested to obtain additional certifications, such as SHIP.

Academic Advisor (Distance Education) – Vincennes, IN

Vincennes University is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to provide comprehensive and sound academic advice and support services for students and prospective students pursuing a college degree or other educational objectives through Vincennes University’s distance education program.

The Distance Education Program, one of two major programs in Extended Studies, includes components that deliver courses to a diverse student population including military service members, adults, returning students, students new to higher education, displaced workforce members, and those seeking personal improvement.  Most students are seeking a degree or certificate.  Course delivery is primarily by Internet or CD-ROM.  The Academic Advisor reports to the Assistant Vice President of Lifelong Learning

This position is responsible for:

  • Serve on a team of advisors advising over 1000 current students as well as prospective students regarding selection of a college, a major course of study, and an appropriate delivery method.
  • Articulate the requirements of over 26 degree programs and the benefits of obtaining a degree.
  • Work with new students to develop an individualized plan to reach their academic goals. The plan is reviewed with the student each semester to ensure all major program requirements, general education requirements, sequencing requirements, and student readiness is met.
  • Provide one-on-one advising to current and prospective students regarding selection of a college, a major course of study, and an appropriate delivery method.
  • Interpret, apply and abide by the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and parental confidentiality issues.
  • Accurately evaluate and articulate information on students to faculty and administrators, and in interpret university rules and regulations and other information to students.
  • Coach and encourage students through disruptive life events, obstacles, and challenges through discussion of options to help student success.
  • Coach students to develop accountability for their educational decisions as well as an understanding of how those decisions impact their future success.
  • Assist current and prospective students with inquiries in regards to general and specific information about the University, its programs and requirements.

Head Cross Country Coach – Vincennes, IN  

Full-Time                        

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Coach/Assistant Track & Field Coach. This full-time, professional staff position that reports to the Athletics Director.

  • The individual in this position is responsible for creating and maintain a successful Men’s and Women’s Cross Country program for Vincennes University.

This position is responsible for:

  • Instructing and requiring from all students participating in sports, the highest standards of citizenship, sportsmanship and conduct.
  • Work with the athletic director in developing a unified athletic program within the university.
  • Coordinate with the Head Track and Field Coach during Indoor and Outdoor track season.
  • Formulate a successful philosophy to promote the educational welfare and sportsmanship

of the student-athlete.

  • Coordinating, cooperating, planning and consulting with the athletic director in all matters relating to assigned sport, such as budgeting, game scheduling, contracting officials, hotel accommodations, requisitioning meals, transportation and eligibility when applied, recruiting and supervising the academics of 25 to 40 athletes.

  • Conducting all events in the assigned sport according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the NJCAA, Region XII and Vincennes University.

  • Insure that all athletes meet and maintain NJCAA eligibility requirements.
  • Monitor the academic progress of each student/athlete.
  • Conduct and coordinate study tables for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country team athletes
  • Supervise students during organized practice and play and student work; make regular checks on condition of facilities and equipment before and after use.

  • Work with the SID regarding statistical programs of the team and in making sure the media has access to statistics.

  • Make initial contact with the SID immediately after each contest

  • Participate in gathering sports information to create the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country social media for the athletic web page.

  • Control of inventory of athletic equipment in the assigned sport

  • Prepare an annual budget.

  • Develop a recruitment plan and actively recruit student/athletes.

  • Coordinating, cooperating, planning and consulting with the athletic director in all matters relating to assigned sport, such as budgeting, game scheduling, contracting officials, hotel accommodations, requisitioning meals, transportation and eligibility when applied, recruiting and supervising the academics of 60 to 80 athletes.

  • Conducting all events in the assigned sport according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the NJCAA, Region XII and Vincennes University.

  • Insure that all athletes meet and maintain NJCAA eligibility requirements.
  • Monitor the academic progress of each student/athlete.
  • Conduct and coordinate study tables for the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field team athletes
  • Supervise students during organized practice and play and student work; make regular checks on condition of facilities and equipment before and after use.

  • Work with the SID regarding statistical programs of the team and in making sure the media has access to statistics.

  • Make initial contact with the SID immediately after each contest

  • Participate in gathering sports information to create the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field social media for the athletic web page.

  • Control of inventory of athletic equipment in the assigned sport

  • Prepare an annual budget.
  • Request requisitions and/or work orders. 
  • Develop a recruitment plan and actively recruit student/athletes.

  • Provide educational programs promoting Vincennes University and Early College initiatives for students, parents and others

  • Work cooperatively with the School Corporation and Career Center administration to ensure the smooth operation of the day-to-day instructional operation; oversee daily operations of the early college office;

  • Facilitate credentialing process for faculty;
