Emergency Medical Services Program Director – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                      

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Emergency Medical Services Program Director.  This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position.

The ideal candidate will be energetic and will have a desire to build a strong Emergency Medical Services program. In addition to teaching, the person hired will be primarily responsible for maintaining EMS accreditation and will be responsible for program assessment. This person will participate in departmental, divisional, and university committee work, and will participate in recruitment and retention activities. This individual will be able to articulate an appreciation of a comprehensive and open-door community college. 

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field is required, but will consider a Bachelor’s degree in any field combined with the required experience indicated below (degree must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher education that is recognized by the US Dept. of Education)
  • Master’s degree or higher in a health-related field preferred or a Master’s or higher degree in any field preferred; RN is a plus
  • Primary Instructor certification required
  • Minimum of 5 years of medical or allied health education, training, and experience
  • Knowledge of current national curricula, accreditation and registration, as well as requirements for state certification or licensure
  • Field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
  • Comfortable in a lecture teaching situation, in addition to a hands-on, clinical teaching situation; online teaching experience a plus
  • Responsibility for administration, organization, and supervision of the academic and clinical aspects of the program, including appropriate preceptor orientation/training
  • Prior program and/or course assessment experience a plus

Nursing Faculty – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                      

 

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Nursing Faculty.   This full-time, non-tenure track position. The position will begin August 2017.

 

  • Responsibilities include functioning as a team member in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum and course materials, clinical and lab supervision of nursing students, classroom teaching, and student advising responsibilities.
  • Teaching responsibilities may be in any of the VU nursing programs: Practical Nursing, Associate of Science, or RN to BSN Completion Program.

Successful candidates will have:

  • graduated from an accredited school of registered nursing,
  • Master’s degree in nursing, and
  • a current unencumbered Registered Nursing licensure in the State of Indiana.

Semester Contract Faculty Communications 

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Semester Contract Faculty at the Jasper Campus. This is a contract position for 2 semesters, with teaching an 80% (12 contact hours) teaching load per semester. Position is not eligible for benefits.

Vincennes University is a public, two-year institution offering transfer courses and career-technical programs leading to associate degrees, as well as selected baccalaureate degrees. The Jasper Campus is located in Jasper, Indiana. The institution emphasizes excellence in teaching and learning.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Teach Communications (Speech & Interpersonal Communication) and related classes at the Jasper Campus and at other sites as assigned.

 

Course assignments may include Speech, Interpersonal Communication. Faculty members are expected to provide an effective teaching environment that is conducive to student learning. The classroom and coursework should contain elements that recognize and enhance components of the learning process, employ effective delivery of instructional materials, and are responsive to the personal and professional needs of students.

 

Applicants should have a master's degree in Communications with 18 graduate credits or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in Communications or related field. Applicants should have teaching experience, preferably at the college level.

 

Contractual Obligations:

 

The faculty member will fulfill his/her responsibilities for effective teaching and the facilitation of student learning, which include activities such as:

  • Teaching students in courses as assigned

  • Meeting all classes at the appointed time and for the scheduled amount of time

  • Holding office hours

  • Grading students according to established criteria

  • Being prepared for classes with appropriate handouts, laboratory materials, tests, and syllabi that are clear, consistent, and current

  • Following institutional standards and procedures for grade reporting

  • Providing the respective dean, and each student with a copy of the syllabus for each class

  • Creating a positive classroom climate that facilitates student learning

  • Assessing student learning outcomes

  • Utilizing current knowledge and relevant examples

  • Being student-centered in decisions to accommodate student needs

  • Engaging in professional development to remain current in the discipline and in teaching/learning

  • Providing the division office with copies of final exams

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the field to be taught.

  • College level teaching experience preferred. Work experience in the field to be taught is desirable.

Supply Chain Logistics Management - VU LTEC (Plainfield, IN)

Vincennes University Logistics Training and Education Center (VU LTEC) is seeking a full-time non-tenure track faculty member for the Supply Chain Logistics Management program located in Plainfield, Indiana. This position is an on-site position at VU LTEC. This full-time position is responsible for providing both academic (credit) and training (non-credit) instruction to students in order to prepare them for positions in the logistics industry. The faculty member will also be responsible for curriculum development, maintaining accurate and timely student records, attending education and employer fairs, and collaborating with students, staff and industry employers.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

This position will report to the Director of Logistics. This individual will interact with students, staff and faculty.

COURSE DUTIES:

• Instruct non-credit courses for the Global Logistics Associate (GLA) program (sponsored by APICS) to a diverse group of students, including sales professionals, high school students, and dislocated workers; instruct other non-credit courses as needed (i.e. Team Lead, Supervisor Training, etc.)

• Instruct courses for students pursuing for-credit certificate or associate degree programs in accordance with common course outlines

• Ability to teach course content in a variety of formats; ability to teach non-standard work hours (e.g. weekends/nights), if needed

• Responsible for curriculum development, including planning, designing, and writing for academic and training programs

• Prepare and deliver content via multiple learning modalities (online, in-person, hands-on, etc.) and modes (l lecture, discussion, group work)

• Provide hands-on instruction on equipment related to the warehousing, material handling, forklift operations, and manufacturing concepts

• Responsible for designing, administering and grading all coursework/examinations

• Maintain current and accurate student grades, records, and attendance

• Coordinate activities of other VU LTEC adjunct faculty members (instruction, curriculum development, etc.)

• Work with employers to identify possible training needs to assist in future workforce development

• Communicate with Academic Advisor on student learning needs/issues; collaborate with Academic Advisor to develop and implement solutions to student learning needs/issues; advise students as necessary

• Participate in professional development learning opportunities as needed; maintain knowledge of current practices in the field

• Perform other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate for this position must have the following:

• Successful work experience within the logistics industry; specifically, the faculty member will have a significant working knowledge of warehousing, distribution, material handling, and manufacturing concepts. • Understand the concepts of safety, 5S, lean concepts, etc.

• Strong understanding of teaching/learning theories and how to actively engage a diverse group of students

• Must be an innovative instructor that has the ability to create dynamic curriculum and teach complex concepts in a creative manner

• Efficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and willingness to learn new computer systems

• Ability to handle a substantial caseload with minimal supervision

• Must have ability to take initiative and have superior organizational skills; Excellent oral and written skills required

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) or

• Bachelor’s degree plus relevant work experience in area of instruction.

• Specific professional licensing or certification related to the logistics industry is preferred.
