Faculty and Department Chair in Business Management and Administration - Jasper, IN

Full-time

Vincennes University Jasper (VUJ) is looking for a dynamic individual to teach and chair its Business and Public Service department. As VUJ nears celebrating its 50th year of service, and with the recent Dubois County Ready Schools Initiative partnership, it could not be a more exciting time to begin this position! The successful candidate will play an important role in the overall Jasper campus enrollment growth plan, engaging key constituents from the region, and helping students achieve their academic goals. This is a full-time (nine-month) faculty position with fringe benefits, starting January 2019.

 

This position is responsible for:

 

Teaching, Program/ Facility Management and Strategic Planning

  • Create and contribute to a positive work environment through intentional communications.

  • Coordinate, recruit, and chair the academic programs and partnerships based in the Business and Public Service department.

  • Prepare, teach and manage an undergraduate course load in Business, or a related content area.

  • Manage an advising caseload of Business and Public Service program students ensuring timely degree completion.

  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate instructors and related support staff.

  • Serve-on and contribute to relevant University committees and service projects.

  • Manage the selection, installation, scheduling and implementation of curriculum, equipment, and instructors.

  • Serve as Business and Public Service department administrator ensuring facilities are utilized safely and effectively.

  • Collaborate with the College of Business and Public Service faculty and staff on the Vincennes Campus to ensure consistency of academic programming.

     

    Recruitment, Retention and Community Engagement

  • Grow student enrollment in and expand program offerings available in the Business and Public Service department.

  • Sponsor a student club or organization.

  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for the department.

  • Develop and implement innovative seminars, demonstrations and tours contributing to enrollment growth.

  • Chair and facilitate a departmental advisory boards ensuring relevancy of program curriculum, equipment and facilities.

  • Represent the Business and Public Service department and Vincennes University Jasper at approved events and recruitment opportunities (minimal travel required).

     

    The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in a business related field, a terminal degree and/or certifications are preferred.

  • Strong belief in the Vincennes University Jasper mission and a desire to make an impact on higher education and workforce development opportunities throughout the region.

  • Possess strong communication, planning and organizational skills.

Funeral Service Education – Vincennes, IN

Full-time

 

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for one full-time funeral service education faculty position with benefits.  Position will begin immediately.

Basic responsibilities include functioning as a team member in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum and course materials, clinical and lab supervision of students, classroom teaching, and student advising responsibilities for the Funeral Service Education Program.  The faculty member will also be responsible for maintaining accreditation and legal requirements for the Program in accordance with the American Board of Funeral Service Education and the State Board of Funeral and Cemetery Service

Successful candidates will have:

  • appropriate Indiana licensure or eligibility for licensure

  • an earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited program, and

  • experience in funeral service practice. Preference will be given to the candidate with prior teaching experience.

Graphic Design – Vincennes, IN

Semester Contract (Fall 2018)

The Art & Design department at Vincennes University is seeking applicants for a Graphic Design Semester Contract position.

Responsibilities include teaching foundation studio courses in Illustrator, Photoshop and graphic design. Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Mac-based OS preferred. Successful applicants will work closely with students from a wide range of educational backgrounds.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in Graphic Design or related area, plus five years of professional graphic design experience, required

Precision Machining Instructor – Lebanon, IN

Full-time

The College of Technology at Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Precision Machining Instructor at the HTEC Training Center in Lebanon, IN. This is a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track position. This position reports to the Precision Machining Program Coordinator and Dean of Technology.  

This position is responsible for:

  • Teach Precision Machining and Right Skills Now CNC classes within the HTEC Training Center as assigned

  • Work flexible hours

  • Assist with contests and other events relating to the department as assigned

The successful candidate has:

  • Minimum of AS degree in Precision Machining Technology or equivalent plus 2 years documented work experience in Precision Machining –or- minimum 5 years documented work experience in Precision Machining.

  • Teaching experience preferred.

  • Technical proficiency in manual machining and CNC Machining.

  • Technically proficient/fluent with CAD-CAM software – Mastercam preferred.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of CNC equipment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)

  • Excellent organizational, communication and problem solving skills.

Diesel Technology Instructor – Vincennes, IN

Full-time                    

The College of Technology at Vincennes University is seeking applicants for Diesel Technology Instructor. This is a full-time, nine month, non-tenure track position. This position reports to the Diesel Program Coordinator and Dean of Technology.  

This position is responsible for:

  • Play a pivotal role in the expansion of our Diesel Technology program. 

  • Give guidance to the students as they complete their lab assignments demonstrating their skills in routine maintenance, troubleshooting and problem solving mechanical issues of large trucks and engines on a daily basis.

  • Be knowledgeable in brakes, electrical (basic and advanced), engines, HVAC, hydraulics, powertrain, preventive maintenance, steering and suspension systems of over the road diesel trucks, industrial or agriculture equipment.

  • Ability to communicate with students during various stages of the learning process and to reach each student at his/her maximum learning potential. 

  • Organize and present prepared instructional materials at scheduled times and places.

  • Preserve communications with students and colleagues to assure efficient and effective instruction.

  • Uphold records of student attendance, student progress, departmental supplies, departmental equipment, and others.

  • Maintain discipline and order during instructional activities.

  • Participate in normal program housekeeping activities.

  • Prepare daily instructional plans and instructional materials at the modular level as directed by the program coordinator.  Assist in student recruiting and graduate placement.

  • Evaluate the progress and performance of the student and assign grades.  Enforce the approved departmental rules and regulations in the classroom and lab; recommend student counseling, probation, or dismissal for excess absences, disruption of class, or lack of progress.

  • Initiate requisitions and work order requests.

  • Suspend unsafe operation.

  • Conduct research on related topics in order to maintain current industry standards.

  • Communicate subject material to students in an understandable and patience format

  • Embrace an active learning environment.

  • Recruit new students and participate in marketing events for the College of Technology

  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate has:

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Diesel Technology or related area plus a minimum of three years full time industry experience and applicable ASE certifications.

  • Associate's degree in Diesel Technology or related area plus a minimum of five years full time, documented industry experience and applicable ASE certifications or ability to complete.

  • Related course disciplines/experiences within: Diesel Technology, Diesel Management, Diesel Service Technology, Diesel Engineering, Automotive Technology and a minimum of eight years full time, documented experience in the field of Diesel or Automotive Technology plus applicable ASE certifications.
