Selective Admissions Applications

Health Science/Nursing Admissions Packet

If you are a current high school student or have never attended college full time, it is very important that you make arrangements to take the Accuplacer Test in order to proceed with the application process. You may make arrangements by contacting the Administration Office at (812-482-3030). Please visit https://my.vinu.edu/web/assessment-center/assessment-practice-sites for test review questions.

If you previously attended college, either full-time or while in high school, you will need to obtain an official copy of your transcripts to be sent to the VU Registrar’s Office. Official transcripts are required in order for courses to be evaluated for possible transfer credit. Please follow the directions outlined in the admissions packet for further details.

All applicants requesting a selective health science program will be accepted into general courses until the review is complete.  It is recommended that you submit your health science packet to the VUJ Nursing Department within 30 days of your application to VU.

It is very important that you include a valid email address on your application. All communication will be sent via email.  All applicants that submit a complete packet will be notified by email after a determination is made on the application.

Admission Requirements

Admission as a student to Vincennes University leading to a degree or technical certificate requires either:

  1. a high school diploma, or
  2. an official General Educational Development (GED) or Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) transcript, or
  3. 24 hours of postsecondary credit from a regionally-accredited institution. If you would like to transfer credits from another institution, please be sure to provide an official transcript (transcript mailed from another college or university directly to Vincennes University) from each college attended.

Click here for home school and non-traditional high school requirements.

Registration Eligibility
Applicants with a high school diploma that was not earned through a Graduation Qualifying Exam (GQE) must demonstrate their college readiness before being allowed to register for classes.  College readiness can be proven by presenting postsecondary credit for college level English or math from a regionally-accredited institution or obtaining a minimum score as designated by the U.S. Department of Education on one of the three subtests of the Accuplacer placement exam, provided free of charge by VU. Finally, these applicants may instead submit achievement of the minimum scores on any of the other tests approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education to document an applicant's college readiness (view list of tests and required minimum scores).

Applicants who are not eligible for registration may appeal to the Director of Admissions to have their application reviewed for provisional acceptance.

Vincennes University maintains an open door admissions policy but reserves the right to deny admission and/or registration based on the individual's ability to benefit from available educational services. It is strongly recommended that students meet the Indiana Core 40 curriculum requirements, but it is not required for admission.

Steps After Acceptance to VUJC
